Storm Brings Flooding, Outages to Mid-Atlantic

Virginia A storm bringing heavy rain and flooding is complicating travel and knocking out power in the mid-Atlantic region.

The National Weather Service has issued flash flood watches and warnings around the region through Friday afternoon.

Transportation officials around the region are closing flooded roads as heavy rains move through early Friday and emergency officials are reporting rescues of motorists stranded in high water.

The Maryland Transit Administration is suspending service on MARC's Brunswick line because of trees on the track.

Wind restrictions are in effect on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge with sustained winds between 40 mph and 49 mph. Vehicles susceptible to high winds are prohibited.

Utilities in Maryland are reporting about 9,300 customers without power. Dominion Power is reporting about 3,500 customers in the dark in northern Virginia.

- Grove Hill Road - Shenandoah
- Lucas Hollow Road - Stanley
- Dovel Hollow Road - Stanley
- South Court Street - Luray
