HARRISONBURG, Va.--- A James Madison University student claims two men stole items from his home after 10 p.m. on Friday.

Graham Farr lives on the 300 block of South Main Street, close to the intersection of Franklin Street and South Main.

He said two men wearing dark clothing and bandanas walked into his unlocked house while he was in his room.

"The first one had a shotgun and the second one came up and held me in a headlock and they forced me to answer their questions about where the different rooms in the house were and where any money would be," said Farr.

He said they stole $25, a phone and some electronics worth $125.

"It was actually fortunate that we were there. If no one was in the house, they could've really gotten away with a lot more," said Farr.

James Madison University issued a community alert, telling students Harrisonburg Police were investigating an alleged off-campus robbery.

Marissa Barber learned about the incident through the emails.

"I am not overly concerned. The downtown area sometimes has bad things happen not awful and I know I lock my door," said Barber.

She lives right next door from where the robbery occurred. She said in these cases police could only help you so much.

"When it's small minor things, it just kinda happens sometimes and I feel when you live downtown or in a college town, you kind of have to expect it," said Barber.

Farr wants to add more locks to the doors and check better on who is at home. He said he wants to prevent this from happening again.

"Twenty-five dollars is not a lot of money but the fear and how my life is gonna be changed because of this is a lot worse than that," said Farr.

WHSV contacted Harrisonburg police and an officer said he was aware of the situation. However, no more details were given.
