PENN LAIRD, Va. (WHSV) -- Cub Run Elementary School rejoiced after the safe return of their beloved fourth grade teacher.
Students, faculty and staff had quite the scare after yesterday’s news.
Principal Kenny Boyers said the school took yesterday as a time to take a break and make sure the kids understood what was happening.
Many classrooms made posters where the children wrote messages to their teacher.
Bowers said doing these types of projects helps calm the children.
"Writing poems, or writing notes, or doing some kind of class project. We're celebrating the good news that she is safe, the other details, those are being sorted out elsewhere at this time. We're just happy for our good news," said Boyers.
Boyers made sure to notify all parents, faculty and staff as soon as the news of Burns' safe return broke this morning.
He said the whole school is relieved.
