HARRISONBURG, Va.---James Madison University students participated in activities throughout the week to raise funds for a non-profit, as part of Greek Week.
On Sunday, students participated in a pageant to raise funds for the Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
The Arc is a group that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The group will get some proceeds from admission tickets and donations.
Employee Dianne Fulk said she is grateful for the students' generosity.
"We can do more when we have more and we definitely want to share it around the community and to give everyone the benefits we possibly can."
This is the first year students helped the Arc during Greek week. Students said this would not be the last.
So far students have raised $3,000 for the organization.
Other proceeds from the events will go to a scholarship fund for students joining sororities and fraternities.
