Residents are reacting to a recent drug bust that happened in a University Fields apartment along Devon Lane in Harrisonburg.
Cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy pills, even a measuring scale with residue was taken from closets, duffel bags, and from underneath beds, according to a search warrant.
"No one's heard anything about this, at least on our floor, so it's kind of interesting," said Dale Neves.
Neves lives two floors above where the raid happened.
"I'm just surprised that you guys are the first ones I heard this from," said Neves about WHSV explaining what happened.
According to the search warrant, the raid happened on January 31 around 11:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Devon Lane.
The "RUSH" drug task force initiated the raid and found the illegal drugs.
Authorities say those drugs allegedly belong to Christopher Ferguson, a sophomore at James Madison University, and Nicholas Emmons, a recent JMU grad. Both are former JMU football players.
The search warrant also describes how on two occasions an informant allegedly purchased illegal drugs from Emmons.
The warrant also states that informant told police Emmons source or supplier is in New York.
We went to the apartment, knocked on the door, but no one was home.
"It kind of makes me disappointed in our generation. At the same time, we shouldn't have drugs in our apartments. It's not safe, it's not intelligent at all," said resident Joy Canton.
Residents say while the drug bust disturbs them, they're just glad police were doing their jobs.
"I feel like there's police always monitoring the area. They're always around here," said resident Nicole Fortunato.
Something Fortunato and others say is a reason to feel safe.
"It definitely makes me feel safer," said Neves.
No arrests have been made in the case.
Police want to analyze the substances found inside the apartment first before proceeding with any charges.
TV3's Karen Campbell spoke with the grandmother of Emmons by phone who had nothing but good things to say about her grandson's character.
She also said she can't believe Emmons would do anything like this to jeopardize his future. She's just waiting for the truth to come out.
