Sunday Hunting Bill has Local Residents Fired Up

The ban on Sunday hunting could be lifted soon if the General Assembly passes the senate's bill.

The bill lifts the ban on private property, but on public lands, it would still be illegal to hunt on Sundays.

Local residents are really fired up about the issue. Some say afternoons are important for families, churches and people who like using the trails. Others say hunting on Sundays would help their family.

"With the five day work week, and the kids in school all week, it seems like we only have Saturdays to hunt, and I really wish we had an extra day. Especially on private land, here in our own backyard, I wish we could come out and have an extra day," said Eric Morris, a local who opposes the Sunday hunting ban.

Governor McDonnell said he supports getting rid of the law, but here in the Valley, some lawmakers have different opinions.

The issue even has hunters set against each other. Some hunters actually don't want to hunt on Sundays.
