Stroop is listed in stable condition at UVA Medical Center.

A Harrisonburg woman was flown to the hospital with serious injuries following a crash in Port Republic Wednesday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the 7300 block of Port Republic Road about 9 a.m.

Sgt. Les Tyler of the Virginia State Police said 19-year-old Danielle Stroop was driving a 2000 BMW eastbound on Port Republic Road when she ran off the right side of the road. Tyler said she over corrected and ran off the left side of the road and struck an electrical pole.

Firefighters on scene had to extricate her from the car.

She was taken by ambulance to the Millcreek Church of the Brethren. She was then flown by a medical helicopter to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Tyler said the crash remains under investigation.
