Teenager to be Tried as Adult in Staunton Murder Case

The teenager arrested in connection with last week

Julian Parrott

STAUNTON (WHSV)-- The teenager arrested in connection with last week's murder at Gypsy Hill Park will be tried as an adult, Commonwealth's Attorney Ray Robertson confirms.

A 16-year old was arrested last week in Staunton after the murder of Julian Parrott. The teenager faces a first degree murder charge.

Parrott's body was found on May 8 near the golf course of the park.

Robertson said the Commonwealth will prosecute the 16-year old as an adult. A judge will have to certify the adult charges before any name can be released.

Robertson said the Commonwealth will purse the adult case because the teenager is old enough. He called the case "brutal" and a "senseless murder."
