WAYNESBORO, Va. -- Kevin Quick is a captain of the Waynesboro Police Auxiliary Unit. Reservists help the Waynesboro Police Department add extra officers and keep the community safe.

When Cpl. Vincent Donald responds to certain calls, he has a volunteer officer or reservist like Quick assist him. He said they usually help with high-risk stops, calls for service and special events, with most volunteering their time on nights and weekends. Donald said this allows the police department to have an extra hand without taking full-time officers off the streets.

WHSV talked to Donald before a body was found in Goochland County. He said that if Quick does not return, it could impact the department.

"It is a blow to our police department, like I said before a loss of any of our members for any reason is felt," said Donald. "Kevin and his dad have dedicated their lives to the Waynesboro Police Department, and that means a lot to us."
