Three Cars Stolen in Waynesboro on Christmas

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- Some people in woke up Wednesday to a not-so-merry Christmas as three vehicles were stolen in Waynesboro.

The cars were all stolen within a half a mile of each other and two of them just a few blocks away from each other.

One on South Forest Avenue, another on South Winchester Avenue and the third on North Delphine Avenue.

It's estimated that thousands of dollars of damage were done during the thefts.

Christian Lazzo, one of the victims, found his car a few blocks away and now just wants the keys back.

"Well, whoever has my keys, I'd like to have them back so I can tell exactly what all you messed up. You kind of ruined my Christmas, my baby brother's Christmas, my whole family's Christmas. Please bring them back," said Lazzo, who also said that he couldn't have got his car back without the help of his neighbors.

Capt. Kelly Walker with the Waynesboro Police Department said this type of crime is pretty rare, especially during the holidays.

"Generally, Christmas, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day early morning is pretty quiet in Waynesboro; however, there are anomalies from time to time and year to year. Occasionally you'll have a crime spree or something that occurs," said Walker.
