Three Taken to Hospital after Head-on Crash

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY -- Investigators have released the names of the two victims involved in an early morning car crash on Erickson Avenue.

The sheriff's office says preliminary investigation suggests Adam Ryder, 23, New Market, crossed the center line to hit Harlan Rexrode, 86, Staunton, in a head-on collision. These details could change as the investigation progresses.

Ryder and Rexrode went to the University of Virginia Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. A passenger in Rexrode's car was taken to Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

Charges are pending.
UPDATE-- (7:02 a.m.) Erickson Ave. is now open following this morning's crash.
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY-- Three people were taken to the hospital after a two car head-on crash on Wednesday morning on Erickson Ave.

As of 6:15 a.m., the road remains closed, near Karawood Lane and Flint Ave., during cleanup.

The crash happened at about 5:00 a.m. The extent of injury is not yet known.
