Toy Convoy Collection Continues on Monday

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- You still have the chance to help kids in need have Christmas.

WHSV, The Salvation Army, Mountain Valley Burger King and Harrisonburg Auto Mall will be collecting on Monday. If you would like to drop off toys, we will be collecting at the Kmart in Harrisonburg.

Captain Duane Burleigh said that in Harrisonburg alone, 500 Salvation Army angels weren't adopted this year. That's more than 1,000 toys that the Salvation Army needs help with.

Captain Burleigh says some big donations helped fill the need on Saturday. However, there is still a need. Girls and boys ages nine to 12 are two groups that need donations in the Valley.

Captain Burleigh says some families were unable to donate because of the economy.

"They don't have to choose between paying the bills and buying their toys for their children for Christmas or having a Christmas meal. By people's donations we're able to provide that," said Captain Burleigh.

You can also drop off toys at any Mountain Valley Burger King locations. All together, there are thousands of kids in need in Staunton, Waynesboro and Elkton. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
