HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- A train derailment on Thursday afternoon has temporarily closed multiple roads in Harrisonburg.

The derailment happened a little after noon on the tracks near West Gay Street and North Liberty Street. No injuries were reported and this does not appear to involve any hazardous materials, according to a city spokesperson.

Both Kratzer Avenue, from North Liberty Street to Main Street, and Gay Street, from Liberty Street to Noll Drive, are closed.

Drivers are asked to avoid these areas until those roads reopen.

By about 4:15 p.m. Thursday, the rail car that was blocking one of the roads was moved; however, crews are now repairing a portion of the road that was damaged by the car.
