People in Luray celebrated Halloween early with "Trick or Treat on Main Street" on Saturday.

It was a chance to get people downtown and also help boost business.

Groups of trick-or-treaters went door to door at businesses with balloons to get candy.

The event has grown every year, according to Susan Rocke.

Rocke opened Shenandoah Moon about four years ago.

When kids come for candy, Rocke said some parents have also bought items.

"There's a lot of people downtown today and it does get them familiar with the shop. I'm also handing out little coupons or information sheets which lets them know what I do after today,” said Rocke.

The Luray Downtown Initiative helped to coordinate the event.

A local restaurant also said it helped boost sales.
