WASHINGTON (AP)-- In Iraq, insurgent groups are gaining control of more parts of the country.
President Barack Obama is letting Congress know that about 275 U.S. military personnel could deploy to Iraq.
They would provide support and security for U.S. personnel and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
Obama said they would be equipped for combat and would stay until they are no longer needed.
About 160 troops are already in Iraq, including 50 Marines and more than 100 Army soldiers. Some of those soldiers have only recently arrived.
