STRASBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Two families are unharmed, but are now without a home after it burned down Wednesday.

Their Lee Street home is unlivable due to the smoke, fire, and water damage done on the inside.

According to fire crews, the fire started in the basement. It has since been contained, but the cause of all this is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is helping the two families

The Shenandoah County Fire and Rescue Team said the house only had one smoke detector, which they say had been made inoperable.
