WAYNESBORO Waynesboro Police have made an arrest in an ongoing stabbing investigation. 18 year old William Anthony Maddox II, of Waynesboro, was arrested Thursday night at an apartment located in the 1300 block of Hamlet Avenue in Waynesboro. An anonymous tipster notified the Waynesboro Emergency Operations Center of Maddox’s whereabouts. He is being held at Middle River Regional Jail on a $2000.00 bond.
The stabbing took place August 9 at 12:40 A.M. at the Balli Food Store in Waynesboro. Soon after the Waynesboro Police Department obtained charges against the Waynesboro man who was stabbed.
18 year old William Anthony Maddox II, was wanted on two misdemeanor counts of assault and battery.
Officers determined the two sixteen year old girls were in fact the victims of an attack by Maddox. Officers concluded that the injuries he sustained were inflicted by the girls in self-defense. Maddox identified two sixteen year old Waynesboro girls as his attackers. While officers were still investigating the incident, both girls and their parents arrived at the Police Department where they were interviewed. Officers also recovered a folding knife supposedly used in the incident. The girls claim Maddox attacked them and one of them had a knife which she used to defend herself.
Maddox was sent to the University of Virginia Medical Center with stab wounds to his back and upper arm.
