FRONT ROYAL, Va. (WHSV) -- Virginia's leaders are supporting the people of Ukraine as they suffer from Russian aggression in Crimea.
The former governor of Virginia, turned Democratic U.S. Senator, Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, says he supports helping Ukraine.
The Senate recently approved an aid package for Ukraine after they say, Russia cracked down violently against peaceful protesters in Ukraine.
This comes after Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine last month. Kaine says it's an issue that we, as Virginians, need to pay attention to.
"This could turn into something very, very bad. It could jeopardize men and women on military bases in Europe. We do have a strong feeling that people shouldn't push around democracies like Ukraine. Folks should be able to determine their own path without having dictators overrun them. That's an important thing," Kaine shared.
