Uncle of Man Killed in Iraqi War Honors Fallen Soldiers

The uncle of a local hero who died in Iraq expressed his joy at the news of Osama Bin Laden's death in a very public way Monday morning.

Gary Ruebush began waving the American flag over Interstate 81 in Weyers Cave on the bridge named in honor of his beloved nephew, Lance Cpl. Daniel Bubb.

Ruebush says he was celebrating this victory on behalf of all the soldiers who willingly gave their lives for our freedom.

"Today means a lot. It's a happy moment and a sad moment at the same time," explains Ruebush. "Danny would be smiling. He definitely loved his country and that's why he joined the military. I've been waiving the flag out here and the truckers are going crazy. All the people driving are waving, it's great. People are proud to be Americans, especially today."

He adds he took the day off from work Monday so he could continue the celebration.
