STAUNTON -- An unloaded pellet gun was found in a student's locker at Shelburne Middle School, according to Officer Lisa Klein with the Staunton Police Department.
The student is in custody and charges are pending. Police say the student is 13-years-old.
According to Officer Klein, a school resource officer was notified that a student might be in possession of a firearm.
The resource officer called the Staunton Police Department immediately.
Officer Klein says police found the unloaded pellet gun within 15 minutes.
Police say disciplinary action for the student will be in accordance with the Staunton City Schools Student Code of Conduct.
