STAUNTON,Va. (WHSV) -- A 15-page report from the Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts uncovered some problems at VSDB that the report said need to be fixed.
The audit report revealed several problems such as money management, a lack of control over construction progress and spending and failing to follow technology requirements that apply to state agencies.
In her response to the report, school superintendent Nancy Armstrong wrote, "VSDB is a unique state agency."
She said the problem stems from having to follow requirements that aren't designed to apply to schools and that VSDB as a state agency and school should be measured by other rules and regulations.
The audit also criticizes the school for not following the correct process for buying new computers.
Armstrong said the school has already worked to resolved several of the issues and that she's now working with several agencies to clarify the way VSDB is looked at by the Commonwealth.
