RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Five farmers' markets in Virginia get high marks in a national contest sponsored by the American Farmland Trust.
The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services says three markets were ranked in the Top 5 in their categories. The other two were ranked in the Top 20.
The categories are based the number of vendors.
Lakeside Farmers' Market in Richmond was ranked second among mid-sized markets with 16 to 35 vendors.
Williamsburg Farmers' Market was ranked third and Falls Church Farmers' Market was ranked fourth among medium markets with 35 to 55 vendors.
Stuart Farmers' Market was ranked 12th and Vienna Saturday Farmers' Market was ranked 17th among small markets with 15 or fewer vendors.
