RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Gov. Bob McDonnell and first lady Maureen McDonnell are set to host the second annual Virginia Wine Summit later this fall.

The governor's office said Thursday that the event is scheduled for Oct. 28 at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond.

The summit will bring together wine experts and industry leaders to discuss the state of Virginia wine.

It will feature British wine critic and television personality Oz Clarke, as well as tastings and food pairings.

Virginia ranks fifth in the number of wineries in the nation with more than 230. Officials say sales of Virginia wine are up more than 23 percent since 2010.

A 2012 economic impact study showed the Virginia wine industry employs more than 4,700 and contributes almost $750 million to the state economy annually.
