RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- A public-private partnership is being launched to expand Virginia's cyber security industry and expertise.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced the Semper Secure partnership Thursday. The partnership will be funded by the state and industry.

McDonnell says in a news release that the partnership will focus on several cyber security issues. They include ensuring workforce preparedness and availability, and fostering entrepreneurship.

An independent board of directors will lead the partnership and report annually to the governor. Board members will include cyber security leaders from government and industry.
