RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Virginia residents can now use a mobile phone app to report suspicious or criminal activity to state police.

The See Something, Send Something app launched Friday includes information on what to look for and when to report such activity.

State police say the app doesn't replace 911 and shouldn't be used by someone needing immediate police action or reporting an emergency.

The app can be downloaded at no cost. It also is being used in Pennsylvania and Louisiana. State police will review photos and information submitted through the app.
