Harrisonburg, Va. (WHSV) A valley artist is working on a memorial for the late Nelson Mandela who fought against apartheid and served as the President of South Africa.
James August Warsing Jr. said he will spend close to 50 hours etching Nelson Mandela's image into a carved out replica of the continent of Africa.
When asked if he plans on selling the piece, Warsing said he is not creating it for profit.
"I thought he went through enough and I thought that this was something at least for those who loved the man very well and to give him something to memorize him, as a memorial," said Warsing Jr.
Warsing's store, "Creative Etchings," is located on North Main Street in Downtown Harrisonburg.
He also has sculptures of the twin towers and other memorials in his store.
