HARRISONBURG--- We spoke to people outside of Kline's Dairy to discuss the shutdown. Right now, the finger pointing continues in Washington, but many here in the Valley are doing some finger pointing too. So we wanted to hear from you as this shutdown continues.
Shannon Dove, Assistant Technical Director at Eastern Mennonite University, said, "I think it's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of, we pay these people to govern us and they just don't want to."
Paige Moorefield, a JMU student, said "I think they should still get paid because they are the ones who are running the government and who are making the decisions but I do think they need to compromise because it's not doing the country any good." Her friend and fellow student Kylie Nelson added her thoughts. "I just think the people in the government are being really selfish because they're not realizing how many people they're affecting everywhere and also they shut down the panda cam so I'm not aware if the panda's still alive and that's really sad."
Chris Madeo, a therapist and Valley farmer, said, "What has happen is a result of a projection of their own guilt and blame onto a program that is actually for the good of the majority of the people."
Dan Carr, a Liberty University student visiting his girlfriend, said, "You need to be willing to put yourself in the other side's shoes in order to see what's really happening to actually see the whole picture of you'll just like blinders on."
