Mother and grandmother Barbara Morris saddled up on Sunday to spend time riding through JMU's arboretum with what matters most to her: her family.
Matt Hickley, with Classic Carriage, worked alongside horses Chip and Mike to make sure mother's get a ride around the arboretum on their day.
"It was perfect. It was a chance for all of us to get together and spend some time together," Morris said. "All of us like to be outside in nature."
"It's a lot of fun," Hicks said. "We come here every year here to do this. We're sold out every year. It's a nice way for mother's to enjoy the afternoon."
Morris drove nearly an hour to spend time with her grandchildren, children and their families.
She works with horses in a therapy program and said the ride fit her personality.
"It was very relaxing, it was. It gave us a chance to talk a little bit and be together. It was great." Morris said.
Most of all, Morris is glad she got to share her passion for horses with her family.
"That's just part of what makes Mother's Day special," Morris said.
