HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- For three weeks, across a dozen states, veterans are traveling on a bus to tell their stories and share ways to fight for freedom here at home.
One of the 20 stops was in Harrisonburg.
The bus tour is sponsored by Concerned Veterans for America, a non-profit, non-partisan, organization of veterans.
A high profile list of decorated veterans have joined the tour.
One of them is Ret. Lt. Col. Steve Russell, who led the capture of Saddam Hussein.
Russell said the mess in the government is nobody's fault, except the American people's.
"We're shrugging our way into oblivion and watching our liberties eroded. We're more concerned with Miley Cyrus's twerk or Justin Bieber's latest tattoo, while our country is headed off the rails. Veterans have saved this nation in every generation. It's time for veterans to stand together with one voice and say enough," said Russell.
He said he hopes to build the activist base so that veterans and their families can promote values that will keep this nation strong, fiscally strong, proud and responsible.
