Documentary Brings Virginia Breweries into the Spotlight

SHENANDOAH VALLEY, Va. (WHSV)-- Two filmmakers are in the process of making a documentary that puts the spotlight on the growing craft beer industry in Virginia.

Since 2010, there has been a 300 percent increase in the number of craft breweries in the state, which in turn helps create jobs and helps the economy.

Megan Troy and Aaron Stanley have already talked to around 20 breweries including a few here in the Valley such as Three Brothers Brewery.

Both said it's important that people realize the impact these local breweries have on the community.

"There's also a trickle down effect where other things like food trucks and other people that are participating at breweries are getting jobs and there's money flowing into that so this is something that's helping your state, your friends, and your community and also producing a great product so we just really want people to know about that," said filmmaker Megan Troy.

Their documentary will premiere on August 9 in Richmond.
