ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va -- During the holiday weekend, Virginia State Police issued a total of 434 tickets in Rockingham County. More than 200 of those tickets were issued for speeding and about 50 were reckless driving tickets.

VSP troopers helped with 12 accidents with injuries and made nine driving under the influence arrests. State police also gave out 25 seat belt tickets and dealt with 25 fender benders.

VSP Sgt. Frank Pyanoe said it was just another weekend at work.

"Locally, we fared pretty well,” said Sgt. Pyanoe, “We didn't have any serious traffic crashes. We didn't have any fatalities in Rockingham County, which is always a plus."

VSP troopers know Thanksgiving weekend is the most heavily traveled weekend of the year and they had extra patrol out on the highways to enforce traffic laws.
