Virginia State Police Investigating Serious Accident Near Grottoes

Grottoes, VA -- UPDATE: 8:45 p.m. 1/19/2014
Virginia State Police say the female driver of the car involved was thrown from the car when she went off the right side of the road hit an embankment, two trees, and rolled multiple times.

From there, she was taken to UVA Medical Center by helicopter and is being treated for serious injuries.

The cause of that crash is still being investigated.

Accoring to Virginia 511, Route 340 is open again.


Virginia State Police are investigating a serious accident that happened Sunday evening near Grottoes.

Augusta County dispatchers say there is one vehicle involved, and they have gotten reports of someone being thrown from the car as well as someone being trapped.

According to Virginia 511, drivers can expect delays on 340 in near the County/City/Town Line of Grottoes. The north left lane and right lane are closed.
