BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- Virginia Tech is set to announce its 16th president.
The university has scheduled a news conference for Friday to introduce President Charles W. Steger's successor. He announced his retirement after 14 years in June but agreed to remain in Blacksburg until a new president was named.
Steger is credited with many achievements during his tenure, but his presidency also encompassed the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
