RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Wine experts and industry leaders from around the world are expected to attend Virginia's first wine summit.

The daylong event is set for Oct. 2 in Richmond.

Gov. Bob McDonnell says the keynote speaker will be British wine authority Steven Spurrier, who also will lead a blind tasting of wines from Virginia and other globally recognized wine regions. The event also includes panel discussions for an audience of winemakers, restaurateurs, wine shop owners and others, and will conclude with a Virginia wine reception.

McDonnell says the summit is part of his administration's effort to promote Virginia wine and wine tourism.
