A new residence hall at James Madison University demonstrates a lot of effort into creating a sustainable living space. From the walls to the floor, the building is easy on the planet.
This comes as part of special regulations that the building needed to get LEED Platinum certified. As of right now, this is the only residence hall in the country to reach this level of certification.
One of the ways that this building conserves energy is through using the heat from runoff shower water to keep the water heater hot.
James Madison University Housing kept the students' input in mind when planning this building as well. Through focus groups, they created a living space that fit the students' wants and needs.
