MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- A review team will visit the Morgantown campus of West Virginia University next week as the university's years-long reaccreditation process moves ahead.

The review represents a critical step in the university's reaccreditation. WVU has to be accredited every 10 years by the Higher Learning Commission to receive federal funding.

The Dominion Post reports that the review team consists of people from peer institutions. Once the review team completes its visit, it will issue a report to the commission's Board of Trustees. It will make the final call on WVU's accreditation.

The university has been working on its reaccreditation for the past four years.
