CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- A Kanawha County student says a principal violated her free speech right after she criticized an abstinence talk at her school.
Media outlets report that George Washington High School senior Katelyn Campbell asked the Kanawha County Circuit Court on Monday for a preliminary injunction against Principal George Aulenbacher and county Schools Superintendent Ron Duerring.
Campbell has publicly criticized motivational speaker Pam Stenzel's speech at an assembly last week at the high school, calling it "scare tactics."
Campbell's request for a preliminary injunction alleges that Aulenbacher threatened to report her activities to Wellesley College, where she's been accepted as a student.
Kanawha County Schools general counsel James Withrow didn't immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
