Wanted Man Named a Person of Interest in 7 Eleven Robbery

PENN LAIRD, Va. (WHSV) -- The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office has named a person of interest in its investigation into the alleged armed robbery at a 7-Eleven in the county on Wednesday.

Richard Clay Smith, 47, whose last known address is in Weyers Cave is wanted in Rockingham County on two counts of misdemeanor bad checks and one count of violating probation by failing to appear in court.

He is described as a 5-foot 9-inch, 160 pound man with blue eyes as well as brown and gray hair. He also has a Jesus tattoo on his right arm and a dragon tattoo as well as multiple other on his left arm.

The sheriff's office says Smith should be considered armed and dangerous.
