WAYNESBORO, Va. -- The Waynesboro Area Refuge Ministry, or WARM, is in its second year, helping needy people as temperatures drop in the Valley. The WARM program rotates between several Waynesboro-area churches.
One volunteer hoped people take away more than just knowing they have a warm place to sleep at night from the program.
“We want to make sure that they know we're doing this, really, in the name of Christ,” said Richard Showalter, a volunteer, “It is because of his love for us that we're willing to extend that love to others, that we're willing to do this.”
Volunteers at Springdale Mennonite Church are hosting people this week.
Monday night, 18 people showed up and on Tuesday night, volunteers expected to see even more people seeking shelter.
Coordinators with the WARM program plan to continue through the coming weeks.
