Waynesboro Break-In Happened Over a Quiet Weekend

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV)-- 33-year-old Kyle Campbell Bradley is charged with a felony count of breaking and entering.

The Waynesboro Police Department responded to the 1100 block of South Winchester Avenue after reports of a burglary over the July 13 weekend.

The 81-year old victim, a war veteran, said he was able to fend off the intruder before he stole anything in the home.

Police say this type of break-in is very unusual for a peaceful area.

"It's a very quiet, residential neighborhood, mostly populated with families, and most of those families are seniors. We always encounter sometimes some residential break-ins, but never anything as brazen as an early, morning weekend break-in," said Sergeant Brian Edwards of the Waynesboro Police Department.

Bradley is free on bond, and he's set to appear in court in late July.
