WAYNESBORO, VA-- Waynesboro City Council discussed the budget for 2015 and a public hearing was held that gave locals a way to voice their thoughts on a potential tax increase.

The budget proposed for 2015 would raise property tax by two cents per $100 of value from $.80 to $.82. That would raise property tax for $200,000 house by $40. Several people voiced their concerns to council about the proposed increase. We spoke with one woman who said that it could have a big impact on her life.

"It means a lot to me to take care of the people that are really starving, and I'm not starving, but if they keep taking taxes away from me, I won't be able to help anybody, and I wanna help," said Nancy Jean Conrad of Waynesboro.

City Council will vote on the 2015 budget in the may 26th meeting.
