WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- The Waynesboro Police Department arrested a Waynesboro man on two felony charges stemming from a joint investigation with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Department involving the online solicitation of a minor.
John Daniel Patterson, Jr., 66, a former teacher at Western Albemarle High School, is charged with using a communications system for the purposes of soliciting a minor for sexual acts and possession of child pornography.
Earlier this year, police say Patterson used his cell phone to start an online relationship with a 14-year-old Highland County boy. Their communication led to the exchange of sexually explicit images of each other.
Back in April, police arrested Patterson after they say he agreed to meet an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old boy for a sexual liaison in Verona, Va.
Officers arrested Patterson at his residence Wednesday morning.
He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
