Waynesboro The Waynesboro Police Department will be getting some new gear. City Council approved an ordinance to allow $225,000 to be allotted to the Department.

The money was part of a forfeiture from Abbott Labs. The money will be used to purchase new equipment, including new safety vests, rifle scopes, and a travel vehicle to carry the entire swat team.

"A lot of the items that we asked for through the attorney general's office were things that we couldn't replace quickly, we'd have to replace them over a five year period. Some of them were bigger ticket items that normally get cut from out budget because we're trying to save money," said Chief Michael Wilhelm of Waynesboro Police Department.

The Department will have two years to use the money.
