WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- A local longtime resident and attorney announces he's planning to run for public office.
Waynesboro resident Alvin Marks announced his candidacy for a seat on the city council.
Marks is running to represent residents in Ward D. Councilman Mike Harris currently holds that position and there's no word yet on whether he will seek re-election.
Marks told us there are many reasons why he would make a good candidate.
"I want to see us to be able to respond to the extent possible with the resources available which are never as much as you might like but to the extent possible that we can support our schools, we can support our law enforcement, and fire departments, and other services that a local government is best equipped to give its citizens," Marks said.
Marks needs 125 signatures to get his name on the ballot.
The election is on May 6.
