Police Investigating Reported Bank Robbery in Weyers Cave

WEYERS CAVE, Va. (WHSV)-- The Augusta County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police and Shenandoah Valley Airport Police responded to Carter Bank & Trust for a reported robbery.

At about 2:53 p.m. on Tuesday, a bank employee called 911.

About five employees and no customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies say that the suspect implied he had a weapon and asked for money. The bank's security cameras did record footage of the incident.

The sheriff's office describes the suspect as white man, between the ages of 20 and 30, approximately 5-feet 11-inches tall and weights about 170 pounds.

He was wearing khaki carpenter style shorts, a gray hoodie, a red baseball style under the hood, a red undershirt and tan Nike shoes. He has blue eyes and dark facial hair.

He left the bank on foot heading in a southern direction from the bank. Investigators are still on location gathering information.
