HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- This winter's harsh weather has played a role in delaying construction work in the area, including plans to start work on a Habitat for Humanity home in Harrisonburg.
Marsha Smith, is the director of Habitat for Humanity in Harrisonburg, she said the land is secure and the family is ready to move into a home sometime soon.
Now all they need is for the weather to cooperate so they can begin construction.
Smith said, the organization bought the land last year and the family is currently renting an apartment, waiting to start construction.
"They've been waiting for this for a long time. They have worked a lot of their sweat equity hours. So, they are looking forward to that and being in their own home soon," said Smith.
Since 1988, the organization has built more than 54 homes in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.
