Woman Survives Trailer Fire; Loses Four Dogs

LINVILLE, Va. (WHSV) -- A woman has lost everything after a fire destroyed her trailer early Friday morning.

She was home and suffered minor burns to her face and lips, as well as singed hair. She also lost her four dogs in the fire.

The call came in to emergency services shortly after 1 a.m. about a fire at a trailer on Rhodes Lane.

The woman said she heard an explosion that woke her up, according to Jeremy Fulk, an assistant fire marshal with the Rockingham County. Fire officials said that the noise saved her live because if she hadn't gotten up at that point, she probably wouldn't have survived.

The cause is still undetermined, but it may have been some type of electrical fire. The trailer had no working smoke detectors.

Singers Glenn, Broadway, Rockingham County and Hose Company #4 worked together to put out the fire.

The Red Cross is now working to assist the woman.
