A man flips his car. Sheriff's deputies say he just lost control.
The driver's name is George Sheets. The Charlottesville man is in the hospital right now. He has one woman to thank for her quick thinking.
"It was a big boom that we heard. We heard the tires screeching and we ran out the door." said Laura Wetsel. She heard the car crash Friday night near her grandfather's house.
Once she and her family drove down the road, they saw a car on its roof on Mauzy Athlone Road in Rockingham County near the K.O.A. Campgrounds. The driver, 65 year-old George Sheets, asked Laura to help.
"The guy telling us to roll the window down and break the window to help him out, but there was no way we could help him out because he was pinned with the steering wheel." said Wetsel.
Laura says that's when she called 911. Rescue crews from several areas worked to pull Sheets out of the car. Laura says he was talking the whole time. Sheets was taken to Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Crews then flipped his car back onto its tires. Laura says she's happy things turned out the way they did.
"I'm glad they was able to save him." said Wetsel.
Sheets is expected to be okay. The Sheriff's office says he just lost control of his car. Sheets faces wreckless driving charges.
