Women Arrested in Connection With Stolen Grottoes Fire Department SUV

GROTTOES, Va. (WHSV) -- The Grottoes Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the stolen Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department SUV earlier this week.

Laurel Ansell has been charged with grand auto larceny and additional charges are possible.

She stole from the SUV from the Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department, parked the vehicle and left it in a lot across the street from the Mount Olive Church on Pineville Road and then walked to a house on Valley View Road, less than a mile away, according to Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson.

The Grottoes Police Department received a tip that Ansell was in the house and Rockingham SWAT assisted with the arrest.

Hutcheson also said there was no standoff.
