World Cup Leading to Increased Interest In Soccer

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV)-- Some people in the valley say that the World Cup games are leading to an increased interest in soccer.

When the U.S. defeated Ghana it was ESPN's largest audience ever for a men's soccer game.

People at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Harrisonburg said supporting the U.S. team will make people more familiar with the game.

"I feel like the more they win, the more popular it will become, because it will be easier for people to watch because they're watching something that people feel we've got a pretty good shot of taking home. And they can be proud of that fact," says Daniel Pultz, a soccer fan.

The final World Cup match will be held on July 13th.
